There are four teams in the majors who have yet to give up 500 runs.

I mean that's a possibility but if it's the case why bring it up at all? After making the argument that the Mets are not winning cause of run differential? Should the Mets and Rangers have more comparable records? This illustrates the issues of a stat like run differential that has so many variables that it's hard to figure out what's random and what isn't. I believe there is some meaning behind it though it isn't the be-all, end-all. I think if you go to the extremes of the scale than it gets harder to compete, though I can't prove this. The reason I think this is because it shows either your pitching or hitting is defective, and it's hard to win when a large part of your team sucks. Of course I have no proof for any of this.

Mostly I just find it dumb that the top voted comment in this thread is about run differential and not the fact that the Mets can't score enough fucking runs. /r/baseball just can't stop sucking the dick of Bill James even though it makes them look like nerds with their heads stuck up their asses.
