There Are No Stupid /r/Bass Questions - Apr. 06

Hello guys, so I've recently started learning slap bass but I still can't decide which technique should I use/focus on practicing.

I'm 100% sure that I want my thumb parallel to the strings, but im not so sure if i should do a rest stroke (finger going through the string and resting on the next one) or a bounce stroke (finger bounces off the string). I've noticed that most people use a bounce stroke but I was thinking that maybe a rest stroke would be more efficient and better to be consistent at (also much better for double thumbing but im light years away from even trying that). I'd love to hear your opinion on the subject :)

Also how tf do I mute the E string if im slapping and going up the strings, as I would do in like "Thank You" from Sly and the Family stone.

Thanks
