Hypothetically, would there be anything wrong with an 'amateur' pianist (who doesn't wish to play piano as a profession) from entering a professional piano competition (provided his skill level is comparable to the other professional competitors). Would that be considered somewhat 'amoral' since the non-professional pianist will be denying others' chances of advancing their careers through the competition (while the non-professional themselves does not need to do so) or would nobody really care? I know there exist competitions for amateurs, but I have yet to come across amateurs entering professional competitions, which is why I consider this to be a hypothetical scenario.
