Is there literally any argument in support of joining Scientology at this point?

No, there is literally no argument in support of joining Scientology. Everything that you will hear in the news about Scientology is negative, everyone who speaks out against the church is very highly negative.

However this is highly intentional. This builds up the narrative that the media wants - they can label anything they want about the church as controversial, they never have to really fact-check because the church denies everything. It's always a profitable move to comment/spread anything about the church. Things do have to be labelled as "alleged" but in the social media world, that is usually ignored.

However on the flip side, this also benefits the church, so it's a bit of a win-win. The church is only interested in people who are skeptical of what they hear, people who can't simply believe that one organization is pure evil and all bad, people who distrust the narrative pushed by the media.

So, in the end, it all works out. Scientology stays active because of the skeptical people who can't believe the 100% evil narrative, and the media continues with same stories as it always has.
