Why is there so much discrimination towards British people (mostly English people) on Reddit and online?

Bar a few edgy kids who watched season 4 of The Crown and think we're all responsible for the British Empire I haven't really seen any comments made towards British people that could be seen as xenophobic. We undeniably had a large influence on the world and issues such as Brexit affect people outside of the UK. I think non-Brits have the right to hold an opinion about our politics and government, the same way many people outside the US have their own opinion on the US. When people are talking about "the Brits" they're almost always talking about the UK Government rather than British people themselves.

Subreddits like /r/unitedkingdom are generally full of negative comments about the UK, but they're mainly written by people who live here, and every country's subreddit is the same really, it's just that most of them aren't in English. Go on Google Translate on /r/france and you'll see plenty of people moaning about the same things we do, for example.
