There is no position more downtrodden, overworked, and put upon than the talent recruiter.

I used to be a recruiter, got fed up with the nonsense and how BS the whole industry was and went back to do something useful as an engineer. I want to break this down:

> Get briefing (sp) to fully understand the role profile, the business & the culture

Culture is such a meaningless buzzword. Every company is the same, some just have fluffy beanbag chairs and stupid shit. Dude's vamping hard, it's like a 5 minute discussion of what bullet points to look for on a resume.

> Create a detailed sourcing plan

Nobody fucking does this. You just jump into LinkedIn and do some basic Boolean search strings and start spamming InMails.

> Decide how to best present your company & champion the business

Learn a rote fucking script and try to deceive everyone of how great your "culture" is (see above) so that you can lowball 'em when you make an offer

> Identify potential candidates in your existing network

Read: hope that all of the 1000+ LinkedIn connections you randomly sent yield one or two relevant people

> Advertise the role on multiple platforms

Copy/paste the same job description on every single job website you can find

> Create initial shortlist of potential matches

5 minutes of declining everyone who doesn't meet the one or two bullet points you really care about (despite a 50 sentence long job description asking for literally everything, 90% of that doesn't matter)

> Approach shortlisted candidates with a hook that will generate strong interest

Literally just a repeat of "presenting your company". Read: BSing about how great the company is so you can try and pay them less than they're worth

> Arrange calls to discuss the company & role

Harass candidates over phone and email until they relent, and then spend 30 minutes asking stupid questions to "screen" a candidate, none of which are probably relevant to the job (recruiters are fucking stupid, especially when looking for tech/engineering roles)

> Conduct calls

Dude really was just fiending for more bullet points so he broke up this shit into multiple things

> Find out their salary expectations, notice period, location, etc.

Ask them how much they make without telling them how much the job pays, hoping they bite first and you can be vague so you can offer them 20-30% below what they want

> Drill down on motivation for leaving current role...

Hear the same canned response from multiple candidates "I just want a new challenge" or something, hoping they say they weren't fired or something

> Identify and concerns like job hopping

Judge people for their personal circumstances and difficulties.

> Pitch the role

Dude this is like the 5th fucking time you mentioned that, he must really need to fill out more bullet points to seem like his job is all that fucking hard (it isn't)

I can't even do the second image. Dude is so full of shit. The world would be a better place if 90% of recruiters were laid off and we allowed actual hiring managers to select who they want to interview without this whole bullshit industry of middle men.

Recruiting is easy as hell. You just learn your rote script and go through call after call until someone bites. It's time consuming, sure, but most of the work is unnecessary if you just realize the game is to call as many people as possible and just worry about it as a numbers game. Literally this dude's whole process I could do in like 5-10 minutes before an interview, 15 minute screen, then maybe 30 minutes on all the admin stuff afterwards (it's all standardized documents and nonsense). Fuck this guy.
