You’re telling me you think Bungie at some point planned to take the Light from us again? That they either: A) planned on having the Traveler get turned off via the Witness or something until we miraculously thwarted his plans and saved the day, making the Witness angy enough to sit around the solar system for another year until Final Shape; where we’d just do the same thing because what are we gonna do, lose the final battle of the Light/Dark saga or whatever? while locking us into Darkness subclasses for the whole campaign because otherwise it wouldn’t make sense. Great plan, because nobody ever complains that they can’t use the subclass they want, right? Right??

or B) planned on us losing harder, losing access to the Light until we presumably defeated the Witness or something in Final Shape? Because, once again, people like having their abilities taken away from them?

That’s dumb. Of course they weren’t ever going to do that. The people who wielded the Light, ie Guardians ie us, fell, ie lost to the Witness. It’s as simple as that. Also it sounds cool. Kinda rolls off the tongue. Also a “nightfall” happens every day when day ends and night starts, so if a “Lightfall” is the opposite, because that’s how words work, shouldn’t we have won- now I’m thinking about it too much.
