Do you think there’s a reason why people still follow the bible, yet disregard virtually everything else that happened 2000+ years ago? Why or why not?

Have you read it? Sure there are myths and embellished stories in it like the ones everyone has heard, but it's acknowledged by historians that a lot of it is about real people, real historical events while the other unverifiable parts that aren't about miracles still are within the realms of believable physical possibility. In comparison to Greek mythology which is entirely about some magical rapist gods and goddesses sitting around in a mountain palace killing monsters and impregnating humans with animals. What I'm saying is it definitely makes sense that religions like Christianity/Judaism survived periods like the renaissance because they aren't completely unrealistic, they have enough sprinklings of truth in them as well as a more timeless applicability to peoples lives (telling people how to live e.g. lying is wrong, don't cheat on your wife, honor your parents, rest one day of the week, give money to charity etc), to maintain a following.
