There shouldn't be permanent bans in gaming industry.

Yup. KQLY case, and the way From Software soft bans you so you play against other cheaters, which is great because they don't take away a huge portion of the game. You can even appeal that soft ban once in a lifetime, which is fantastic!

They give you this sort of letter:

Hello XYZ, Thank you for reaching out to us with your profile and for your interest in our Dark Souls franchise! We would be glad to help you further. We have examined your account and it seems that it was restricted because of the character "CHARACTERNAME". That being said, we have also confirmed that the character was removed and you didn't use any cheats since. Well done! As a one time exception, following the manual re-examination of your case, we have lifted the restrictions on your account. =) Please keep in mind that manual override can only ever happen once, so we encourage you to be extra careful in the future. As a reminder, please don't: - use cheats of any sort - use any mods, even visual ones - pick up items from unknown players - manually tamper with the save data (including back-ups) We hope you will have fun playing with your friends! Should you have any further questions, we are always at your disposal. Best regards,
