Is there someone else having a hard time living in Germany?

here for 7 months . How long have you been here in Germany?

5+ years. I was depressed 7 months in without realizing it. I lived in the UK before coming here (I am from a Non-EU developing country). Holy shit cultural shock hit me bad. I thought it was going to be same as in the UK minus the language barrier - casual banter (it takes time for my German wife to understand sarcasm after being together for 7 years lol), relaxed people, international food, people laughing and generally appearing to be happy, after work drinks, deeper open discussions (without being them your best friends), people not being curious about my skin color or where I am from (discussion rarely goes beyond that and I will not mention negative events because dicks are everywhere), also there is strange quietness which I am not used to. Yeah it was different.

I’ve been too afraid to say anything

If not say it to complete internet strangers then where? It is ok to unload here. I am not going to a therapist for this. Dont want to take time of therapist from people who are in real need. If I rant about it anymore to my wife, she will go mental and I do not want to drag down her happiness.

helped you feel not so alone, like it did for me.

You are not alone. Check this link from Internations survey - Germany is in bottom 10 for ease of settling, feeling home, friendliness, finding friends, language. https://www.internations.org/expat-insider/2019/quality-of-life-index-39831 (Even though OTHER things are good).

I didn’t want to seem ungreatful for the opportunity to be here

Yup I am still greatful the opportunity I have! But if you are from US why cant you convince your husband to go back? If you are even a little bit ambitious, USA presents unparalleled wealth building opportunities, so your quality of life can increase! You just have to chose a training/education which pays off like nursing, IT, etc.
