Why is there such an aversion to verbal communication or multi pronged communication in engineering departments?

Potentially controversial opinion but I think you're in the wrong here. Software engineering is largely about teaching yourself, and learning to learn. Seniors are there to direct you to where and what to learn not hold your hand while you do it.

There are many different established ways of learning (4-12) depending on who you trust. I cannot present the same information half a dozen different ways or nothing would ever get done. Even if I tried I am not qualified/talented enough to present it in all the various ways effectively.

It'd be different if you read the postmortem and had specific questions not addressed on it, but you cannot just avoid reading it because you want someone to talk to you.

not everyone read your email

I don't know how you can think teaching the same thing half a dozen different ways to N number of people is part of the job, but reading your email isn't.
