There's always that one guy

Absolutely correct. I part time high performance driving instruction and it bothered me but at the same time, the initial pass there was exciting.

The white car late brakes way inside of the ‘racing line’ and effectively boxes the blue car out which subsequently forces contact. The blue car sorta left the door open by staying to the racing line (not defending it) so he would have been slow into the turn but would have been really fast out of it (late apex driving).

In the real world, this would be under stewards review especially if it caused physical damage to the car (cause in real life that costs $$ and is a safety risk). Both drivers ended up being overly aggressive (obviously) but at different times so there would likely be penalties to both drivers though I think they’d let the white car keep position. Would need to see more footage to see what really led up to that initial pass.
