Do you think there's any truth to the whole "millenials = lazy/entitled" generational stereotype? Why or why not?

Warning: I am a millennial

I think the discord is because as a millennial we have a steeper hill to climb than our parents did, and our complaining makes the baby boomers see us as the babies.

Examples:

We have higher qualifications to meet (I know a lot of Baby Boomers and older Gen X who don't have degrees, but because of experience are making excellent money in their field - on the job training like this is not available to younger generations [where I live anyways])

Home Prices are disproportionately high

Fewer jobs offer benefits and unemployment rates are higher for us, not due to laziness but because of the timing of the 2009 drop, Baby Boomers are working later into life, and when jobs open up they want to employ people fresh out of school - not my ass that's been working in retail because it was the only job I could find.

On the flip side, this causes others to see us as entitled - They say, "hey, I didn't get free schooling! I didn't get hand outs! Are you saying I didn't work hard to earn what I have???"

The problem is, we're growing up in a different world and these people have been situated for so long and lived through the changes, they don't always grasp it.

Once I was horrified by my mother. We were in a long line up at a store and when another cashier opened their till people at the back of the line moved over to it; my mother huffed and puffed and gave an earful to the woman who served us because "they should have called the next person in line to come up to the new till! Not the people who've been waiting 30 seconds!" After we left I gave her an earful, because she'd told me stories about working in fairweather's during university etc. etc. and I asked her if she was so entitled and far removed from those memories to realize that A) The kids are young and B) They make minimum wage, they don't give a shit except for the fact that you made their day worse.
