You don't have to be tied to a particular ideology. Militant centrism is an ideology like any other. You shouldn't assume that whatever label everyone else chooses drives their beliefs, either, unless given evidence to the contrary.

Your party has to be accountable, to the most part, for your beliefs. The whole thing about the Republican party being taken seriously is predicated on the existence of Never-Trumpers, which have been either forced out of their party or proven elusive. That is why people start using broad labels like "every politician on the right wing," because even people like John McCain, held up as a darling of respectable politics, promised to prevent Clinton from ever nominating a Supreme Court justice if she won the election.

That doesn't exist on the left. They're basically clamoring to eat their own.
