There's a quote of Philip K. Dick that says: “There exists, for everyone, a sentence - a series of words - that has the power to destroy you". Which sentence is it for you?

Can I give you a suggestion? That is I mean if you’re looking to improve your social life and not feel so awkward around people. I’ve come a long way myself. I struggled with that for a LONG time. You’re gonna think I’m off my rocker but I swear this works if you do it long enough:

Practice doing impressions by yourself. No I dont mean to learn how to entertain people. I mean to work on your improv skills. Just do impressions of cartoon/movie/pop culture characters/actors. Now if your impression skills are lacking that’s not what’s important. What’s important is that you learn to improv carrying an interesting conversation. Try to make yourself laugh. While making your breakfast talk through it as Arnold Schwarzenegger. “Yeah now we are cracking da eggs here” or try showering as Yoda “Shampoo before conditioner, we must” get as wacky as you possibly can with all the mundane things in your life. Over time you will learn how to hold someone’s attention by flexing that improv muscle. You will feel comfortable jumping from comment to comment, and question to question, with ease. Because in comparison to putting on an entertaining comedy sketch, simply talking to people feels much easier. The more you work to build to a muscle today, the easier it is to carry something heavy tomorrow.

I know, stupid right?

Give it a try.
