I agree. I am not saying Germany is blameless by any measure. But people judge based as if life back then were as it is now. Fact is, they only had as much information as their leaders gave them. Much like North Korea. I’m sure if you were to remove them from their situation their minds would be like whoa wtf we had no idea. Some do sure, but the masses don’t. Many German soldiers did not know about the camps and genocide until either near the end or after the war. If you don’t know the truth of what you’re fighting for and you’re just being told to fight and kill - that’s a soldiers job after all - not question but obey - then I feel like was it necessary to kill them? Absolutely. Shit needed to stop. But was it cool? No. I think a lot of innocent Germans died and no matter what side you are on - innocent people being killed is never cool.

And if they would’ve questioned back then? Do we really think nobody did? They were probably silenced - which put others in their place. Or they were lied to.

People seem to think it’s good/bad and maybe it is but there is a ton of people in between those two ideals that died.
