These gender neutral bathroom signs

Hmm. That's a bit of a weird statement to make, isn't it?

The US has previously had major shifts in social norms that didn't happen overnight and certainly weren't without numerous issues throughout, but they still happened regardless. The enslavement and the later strict segregation of blacks being likely the biggest examples, but most definitely not the only ones. There was also the massive change in societal expectations in regards to women and their role in society and what they were allowed to do in society, ranging from voting rights to even just having the rights to personal clothing choices, such as business suits or even non-mandated swimwear, etc. What about the rights of gay people? Fairly recently the US legalized gay marriage and that definitely doesn't strike me as passing 'by a wide margin'.

I mean, there's a whole list of things that can be covered here. The US has been changing, relative to their time-periods, in major ways since just about the very beginning? I don't know. I just feel like your comment is a bit strange with all of that in mind is all. That the idea of 'unisex restrooms' would be the impassable line that gets drawn despite everything the US has gone through, such as powerfully deep-rooted racism, I'm just not sure that conclusion seems reasonable.

And besides, the restrooms themselves could certainly change to reflect the change in society. As they are now, I would agree that I can't see it working. Public US restrooms are very open and not very private at all. But that could be changed, I'd imagine.
