I saw a similar style with painted edges. It had the same issue with beveling and not an oddly beveled inner section. Your unnecessary beveling on that one and the uneven edge paint made it look somewhat shoddy. The order of operations can use improvement.

If you want to go for rustic, go for it. All the power to you, but perhaps work on not beveling edges that shouldn't be beveled for any practical reason. It would likely be more appealing to a lot of people, especially when there are so many out there that have sharp finish.

On the rustic note, since that's your thing, take a look at Craft and Lore. They don't even bother beveling or doing edge work, aside from making sure it's straight and clean. That might be something to consider.
