Things that do not make sense in XCOM

  1. You'd probably want researchers and engineers to dedicate on one thing until you figured it out. Especially with advanced alien tech or engineering new crazy tech.

3.I imagine he sorta elected as "Speaker" sorta like "speaker of the house" so he just sorta tells you what the council thinks.

4.It's a game.

5.Perhaps it lets XCOM scan for aliens, and control a media blackout on the aliens. If you have low panic you can see people dismissing alien sightings and high panic has people freaking out.

6.It's a game.

7.It's a game, civs are probably shitting themselves because of aliens. See AVENGERS for examples.

8.I don't think the city is fully functional, at least in that AoO. Cities are big, usually.

9.It's a game, and do we evacuate civvies on the avenger? I thought we just secured the area.

  1. It's a game.

11.The Skyranger doesn't have weapons, Site Recon used interceptors I believe. And we gotta recover those bodies and fragments!

  1. Maybe they use them to maintain their bodies, or whatever. More likely probably deliberately left outside for XCOM to find.

  2. It's explained by Shen that the aliens would have totally done it more if they could, was a longshot for them. (Also: See the furies and Annette)

  3. I imagine the reinforcements are just the thinmen were operating in that area already and just moved in to support their allies.

  4. It's a game. Alternatively they might want the bodies to research themselves? Or in the case of the bomb mission "This is a good place to put a bomb, humans don't come here"

  5. "Probably a good place to meet a shadowy organization. People don't really come here that much"

  6. MELD well.. melds organic and tech. Probably to offer a better control over the MECH. Besides, XCOM does develop a sorta exosuit. Titan armor.

  7. MELD allows the prosthetics to bind to the operatives.

  8. Maybe he is out of bullets, and XCOM doesn't carry bullets that his gun uses. Why we can't give him a gun? It's a game.

  9. He doesn't elaborate on it, other than his boss has it. And it appears to be some sorta signal jammer. His boss wanted to sell it to the highest bidder.

  10. Indeed. A good one at that.

  11. I assume they do sleep, probably not as much as they should. Got a world to save. We are using time travel (sorta) to pass the time, perhaps Bradford does leave it just doesn't APPEAR to us like he does.

  12. I assume it's the cost of tracking them down, and getting them to XCOM. Probably a cost to their insurance policy too.

  13. Depending on your panic level, is how much the world knows. could you imagine the holyshitpanic level people would have with hostile aliens?

  14. It's a game.

  15. During the trailer, the Council Representative tells you that due to the attack XCOM is going to be activated. So it appears XCOM has existed for a bit, what with all the advanced tech we already have. Probably just keepin watch for when they are needed.

  16. It's a game.

  17. It's a game.

  18. I assume like most highly trained soldiers they follow the commander's orders. Maybe his charisma is so high they'll follow him into the jaws of hell?

  19. EXALT doesn't seem to sympathize with the ayys. More, using them for their own purposes, evident with Annette and such. They're against the ayys (because EXALT wants the earth for themselves) and against XCOM.

  20. I assume for the same reason we have one.

  21. Just because they have snappy outfits doesn't mean they can't fight. They're a private army.

  22. Long War adds them.. because. Apparently they work with the ayys in long war.

  23. The Base Assault in EU/EW is only done after XCOM attacks their base, so yeah. Only after XCOM shows they can be a threat. Assume they are also fighting the world's military.

35b. The ayys seem to decimate a modern military when they encounter them. Appears only XCOM's tech can take a few plasma shots.

  1. Operatives were probably out on missions when XCOM attacks, so when it appears that EXALT is getting destroyed any survivors probably hide in the shadows. Or, no backup comes because we already killed all their operatives.

  2. No. Thin Men are "inspired" by the snake men, and the actual Thin Men (vipers) were modified into the Thin Men form. which could very well be sexless and the vipers are just the females of that race.

  3. It's my understanding that the aliens used human DNA to improve their underlings. And only some of the ayyys are designed to appeal to humans, like the Archon.

  4. XCOM moves pretty fast across the globe, it'd be hard to be at 100% MAXIMUM RED ALERT all day, everyday.

  5. XCOM didn't fail and lose their funding. XCOM was betrayed by someone (hinted someone within the council) and had their location revealed to the ayys. Who didn't pull punches and started sending their big boys before the second month was over. You'd lose too.

  6. Again, the commander did fine. The commander was undone by betrayal, not their own lack of skill. It's possible the great bald one was compromised and he has received something that makes him no longer mind controlled. Keep in mind, mind control does not appear to be a permanent thing anyway.

  7. ADVENT appears to be kidnapping humans, and experimenting on them. Or hunting down and killing humans who resist their occupation. So no, XCOM is not the bad guys. Would rebels trying to fight against say.. the nazis be the bad guys?

  8. I imagine the ayys do not have unlimited soldiers and use their human-arm to keep the populace in check. Having full blown rebellion against them would cut down on their overall agenda progress.

I was pretty bored at work so I answered them lol.
