Thinking about quitting gaming

Hey that's awesome that you're thinking about quitting. I'd definitely encourage you to give a shot.

Now onto what to do with your free time. First, I'd recommend you to go watch this GameQuitters video by our friend /u/camerondare. It so on point and I think it captures the right mindset on how to approach all this new free time. Think of the goals you want to achieve and use the free time to work towards achieving them.

The first thing I did right after I installed my games 4 months ago was I sat down for about 2 hours and thought about: who I want to be, short term girls, long term goals, where I want to be in a year/two years/5 years etc. If you plan to do this, the more you dig deep down the better. In fact, if you do plan to do this I'd highly recommend checking out and going through Superhero Academy. From there you end up sort of answering your own question about what you should do with your free time.

For myself, it included everything from: finishing up my final year of my computer science degree, practicing meditation, learning to draw and illustrate, gardening, going out on more walks to get out of the house, committing myself to try and see my friends in person once a week, hitting the gym more consistently, learning a new song on guitar every month, trying to read weekly, work on side projects for my resume, learn to write short stories, do yoga and more. As you can probably tell there's no way I will probably do most of that in an average week. The point is not to do all those things (although if I can great!) but the point is those are some things I like to do, I want to achieve, and want to learn. Depending on the day, my mood, my priorities and my responsibilities I'll do a few of those things and it becomes quite easy to fill up the day. And hey if on a certain day I'm tired and I want to be lazy and watch TV all day you bet I'll do that every now and then.

Finally, I'll leave with you this link to a list of hobby ideas. Really just think about the things you always wanted to try or think would be cool and try it out. You wont necessarily enjoy everything but it's a process of learning.
