Thinking and feeling as opposites of the same function

thinking and feeling are the two rational functions, I subjectively relate them to the brain and the heart. Intuition and sensation are the two irrational functions, I relate them to the backbone and the genitals.

As I understand Jung's work, when you face a situation you can't be both thinking and feeling, it doesn't happen. This doesn't mean that a person couldn't be a thinking type in some situations and a feeling type in others.

For instance, a thinking type would consider marriage more a sort of a useful contract that fits in his/her life, and realize his personal and social aims to make happiness avalilable, while in the subconscious he would be very affectionate, and his/her dreams could be quite romantic, and the wife/husband could very resemble his anima/animus.

A feeling type will be on the contrary affectionate and romantic about marriage, he/she would probably like a nice ceremony in the Church, or maybe an intimate one on a foreign country, nevertheless in the subconscious the thinking function is prevalent, and from an external point of view his/her marriage could be judged as a convenience one.

The inferior function in Jung's theory can't be developed directly in a useful way, the subject should focus on the auxiliary functions, i.e. sensation or intuition.
