Those who have been in serious relationships, how long was your longest and why did it end?

We were together for 8 years, I was 27-35 (f) and he was 22-30 during the relationship. The things I would have told you at the time are different than I will tell you now. Then I thought he messed up too much and I dusted too much under the rug. Those things are still true but the truth is we had grown apart. We both still loved and cared for one another but we weren’t doing it in a healthy way and because of that we didn’t didn’t know how to end it in a healthy way. He hurt me quite a bit and that was hard and is still hard to deal with occasionally. I’m a little over a year out and while that probably doesn’t seem that long life keeps happening. I accidentally bumped into a great guy in January. I’m so in love with him and I can already see how how we are just better for one another. My ex is in a relationship too and while his was quicker and that was also hard to stomach at first, I imagine he has found what I have. We cared and meant a lot to one another, but our relationship had run its course. I may have made it all sound easy and it has not been! I’ve been sad, angry and everything in between but life is good so I’m working on not holding onto anything.
