Those of you who made the transition from night owl to early riser/morning person

I’m a night owl but I have been make a more or less painless transition into waking up at 5:40 am. This is what I would recommend:

  1. Buy a sunrise alarm clock, its nearly impossible to sleep when theres a light shining in your face.

  2. Make sure your room is warm (your heater is set to preheat the room before you wake up). This way its much easier to give up the warm comforter. If you want to kick it up a notch, buy a comfy warm robe, those are the best.

  3. Lemon water, ice water, ice coffee, energy drink, chocolate - whatever it is it needs to have that shock factor to really wake you up, keep it on your nightstand and make sure its the first thing you eat or drink.

  4. Stretch, in bed even. As long as you start moving you wont snooze.

  5. Take vitamins the night before. I swear by vitamins B100, and D. And meditate.

  6. Keep a journal tracking all of these things, (ie. what time you woke up, how you felt) and keep it where you can see it. A record of your progress will motivate you to do better in the future.

Best of luck!
