To those who NEVER want to have a child, what are your reasons?

Some kids are great, but honestly I can't stand them in large doses, especially if they're young. Any longer than a few hours and I get irritable and start snapping. I'm clearly not meant to raise kids and I have little to no paternal instinct. I guess people would say "Well you'd act differently if it was your own" but I don't think I would. It would be a bad environment to raise a child in. I've lost my temper over less than a kid breaking expensive shit or mouthing off to me.

Some more short term reasoning would be a) I can barely support MYSELF financially so a kid would be miles out of the question; b) I don't currently have a partner to help me look after a sprog, not saying two parents is necessary to raise a kid well but I wouldn't cope alone; c) I'm jobless and in full-time education.

If things were to ever change in the future, and I ended up saying to my partner "Alright, let's have a kid", I'd adopt. Why does it have to be my own? Like OP said plenty of kids out there need a family, and any partner I'd be deciding this with would agree with me, because like attracts like.

Not to mention I'm sterile anyway
