I really dont think it matters if a mass killer has specific reasons.

Shooter A shoots 10 people because he is racist

Shooter B shoots 10 people just to shoot people

Does it make a difference? Do those 10 people shot by shooter B matter less because the shooter wasnt racist? No.

Maybe Id be more inclined to care about their reasons if every shooter was judged the same way. When a black nationalist shot 10 people in the subway recently his views werent trending all over twitter. He was just a "mass shooter".

All those videos of anti asian hate crimes during the pandemic were awfully similar in one aspect yet the media and social media never cared to point out that similarity.
