Came here as a kid in 1989, been here since then (29 years). Whenever I travel to another town, I find more reasons why I like Tally. I can see how others don't like it, but I'm an outdoors person, and I like the environment we're in. I like the size of the town, and the general attitude of the people as a whole.
I like our trees, our rivers, our lakes, our nearby coast. I like that there are many interesting places to visit within a day's drive. We like camping, canoeing, and canoe camping, and there are lots of places to do that around here.
I have kids now, and they go to the same schools I went to, and I like those schools. I've never felt unsafe, and my neighbors aren't bad. I ride my bike through town, and nobody honks or throws things at me (like I've read about in other cities), and drivers give me space.
I like the large presence of the universities, I like the large population of students. They keep the vibe youthful, and the prices of food and drink low.
The job market is limited, but I regularly talk to my wife about the pros and cons of moving to a bigger city for more money, and we always decide on staying.
