I thought part of being a Christian meant being accepting and loving others.

My guess is that even posting this was difficult for you. My experience with Asperger's peeps is that being vulnerable like this makes them exceedingly uncomfortable.

The empathy and kindness are also what I expected. Maybe you can get involved in the church by volunteering to help tend the flower garden if there is one, or through acts of service. People tend not to take as much while performing manual labor, but they still form a bond through the job.

Also, maybe a small group? If you explain Asperger's to the group as on the spectrum but not too the level of autism and say that you don't know when you're being blunt it rude, and desperately want to know when you've overstepped because hurting people is the last thing you want to do, then that group could work out.

People suck, and sadly, the negatives of Asperger's are shared by people who suffer from a different issue: being a prick. The general public makes assumptions, and I'm sorry that you have to go through this. If we lived in the same city, I'd try to help.
