Thoughts?

Unlikely, especially under the current circumstances. Deferrals don’t just exist in a vacuum. If you defer then you’re reducing next year’s class size by 1, and increasing the following year’s class size by 1.

Under normal circumstances the number of deferrals each year is consistently low, and can easily be managed. But if too many people defer then there won’t be enough students next year, meaning less tuition money for the university leading to financial problems. And there will also be too many students the following year, which will either mean 1) fewer of next years a-level cohort can be accepted or 2) some of those who deferred will have their offers withdrawn.
