Thoughts on why autistic kids are seen as “mature for their age”

I was a rule follower and have a genius level IQ so my teachers basically just threw busy work at me to occupy my time and it was fine. Things got a little dicey in highschool though because I was sooo far ahead of my peers that there was no more school work left. I got some special projects like preparing the chemicals for all the chemistry labs in the school (I was the only 15 year old allowed to touch the pure chemicals). School was easy academically, but socially it sucked. People already hated me for being weird then I was double hated for being the top of the class. Honestly being smart has caused a lot of impostor syndrome for me, like I'm somehow a bad autistic.
