My thoughts on Cam Newton?

In 2011 it was my first time ever playing fantasy football in a league with my high school friends that had been playing for a few years. I had heard all this talk about a new rookie QB Cam Newton and how he was the first overall pick in the draft. Wanting to make some noise and show off to my friends that I knew football I drafted Darren McFadden with my first pick around spot 8. I got some props from friends who said he was destined to have a big year and I was feeling confident with how the draft started. A few picks later and it was the fourth round. At this point I had seen WR taken, RB taken, and even TE taken off the board. So of course I didn't want anyone to take the best ranked defense on my nfl.com fantasy league. I took Green Bay defense with my fourth pick in the draft. Got some laughs and jokes at me but I was still confident. After a decent draft I was on my last pick. Hmm who could I take to back up Tom Brady as I wanted a second QB. Cam Newton is available? Perfect he was a first round pick he could be good.

Fast forward a few days before the regular season started. I start reading all this news on how Cam Newton is a bust and will fail his first year. I reluctantly drop him and draft some no name hyped player. Cam Newton goes off his first game, even breaking some rookie record I believe. I'm stuck at a decent waiver position but it wasn't enough to get him. The team that picked him up ended up winning the season starting Cam Newton at the helm. I ended up in 3rd place still, so I was happy.

I didn't play for a few years until this year. An auction draft league and I'm excited. Cam Newton is going to get me those rushing yard behind a bad offense. After a poor week 1 performance I drop him after deciding his offense is too bad this year. Someone in my league picks him up and he proceeds to ball out beating me week 3 while I started Mariota instead. I hate fantasy football.
