Thoughts on the Joel Debate

I don’t think it’s the right choice, but I think I can understand it. The first game allows us to understand it, it wasn’t the right decision but I don’t think it was entirely the wrong one either. The firefly’s were also not in the right, it doesn’t matter if Ellie wanted to die she never had the ability to say so her self or think about it. Just like Ellie was consumed by her guilt. The fireflies were consumed by their desperation. Joel from the beginning of the game would of let her die but the Joel after opening up and finding his humanity again chose to save her. I think Joel made a moral choice, the fireflies had some morality in their choice as well. But both outcomes were grey in my opinion. I think Joel’s death was also a bad outcome, it didn’t solve anything for Abby and nearly destroyed Abby and led to both live’s being ruined. Last of us in my opinion is about human nature surviving in a cruel world. So I can’t say Joel deserved it but I do agree that he wasn’t entirely in the right to do what he did honestly a lot of these characters decisions I do not agree with but I do understand them.
