Thoughts on Navies in Arma 4?

There is a quite of few games that have ships reacting quite well to movement and waves.

Yes, and the engine used in Arma is certainly not one that supports something like that very well.

I also would want to drive the ship because why the hell not? The only reason I play World of Warships is because its ship fighting.

Then you already found the game for you? I think it is too much of an effort to pull it off, especially when your game is not exclusively about that. You seem to forget that everything in a game exists due to a compromise being made. Most developers don't have the money, time and manpower to add whatever they want to their game without compromising somewhere else.

What about NFS (Naval Fire Support)? Will a ship magically fire across the map without repositioning?

The maps in Arma 3 aren't very big and I doubt they'd get bigger in Arma 4.

I'm not 100% on this but I'm pretty confident in saying that a Warship or Cruiser can fire missiles over much greater distances than what the maps in Arma even allow. So no, they don't do it magically, they do it realistically.

I somehow doubt that nowadays and especially 20 years in the future ships have to have visual contact with their target to provide fire support. They could very much work like guided artillery.
