Thoughts on this re: rich people applying for scholarships?

Just wondering, would you say that the UP system is broken because it is allowing rich students to enroll with free tuition (something like a scholarship) since UPCAT is based on merit and not on need?

Did I say this? Anyway, the answer is no.

I was thinking about the rich honest students who purposely take a scholarship other than its monetary value (for future employment reasons for example). I'm definitely not talking about those who save up for shoes or whatever superficial reason people pointed out here.

There's still a large contradiction here. Most of the private scholarships indicate that it is intended for low income families. Then, intentionally applying for it while being unqualified is immoral isn't it? What's worse is after being accepted while falsifying your credentials, you still continued with the scholarship just because you want to land into that company. The end does not justify the means.
