Thoughts on the Rode NT1-A for vocals?

I didn't really know everyone felt the same about this mic as I do :)

It's a good mic. I ended up with two of them; long story. I find it just too bright for my own vocal use, but it works well for some that are looking specifically for the qualities it has. A very detailed mic. You can certainly tame some of that bright edge out in mixing/mastering or even positioning. However, I agree 100% with what others have said about it being a very bright and detailed mic by nature. I'd prefer it for an acoustic guitar over my own vocal use. If I were buying a single mic for home recording I would NOT buy this mic. I would also not buy any of the Blue mics in this price range.

I personally prefer the SM7B. As previously mentioned, that's the other end of the spectrum. It's my preferred end of the spectrum though.

I'd give you a recommendation for "right in the middle" if I ever found it in the home studio price range, but I have never found it.
