I’m honestly getting sick of, and a bit concerned, about the people defending North Korea and China in other leftist subreddits like CTH. It seems like these people are falling hard for the idea that that the Soviet Union and China represent a fulfillment of communism in an ideological sense.

It makes me feel a bit disillusioned as someone who was once far-right and wasn’t able to swallow the flirtation with fascist ideas. I gradually became pushed away, as I understood that the right truly was not egalitarian like I once had thought. I feel this Soviet/Maoist flirtation is poison to the left movement, and risks making what our worst critics say about us, in a sense, true.
