Right, and how do you propose to pump up "ecological" oil?

The only way to decrease oil consumption, is increase taxes and prices for the end consumer (us) as well, so there is much less demand.

We should be paying 3 or 4 euro per liter by now.

We should be paying 300 or 400 euro for a round trip flight to Rome by now.

That's the only way.

But good luck enforcing that on all countries of the world. It will never happen. Every last bit of easy-exploitable oil and gas (and a lot of the coal) will be pumped up and burned.

We could/should set the right example, but realize that the rest of the world will not follow, and we will make ourselves a lot poorer.
