This just sounds like a lot of purity gatekeeping as far as who gets to help and in what ways and how much initiative they need to show.

I will reiterate: The problem isn't that hypocrites get mocked. Jesus had plenty to say about hypocrisy, none of it good, and most of it directed at people who were trying to do the right thing for God. If you want to call hypocrites a brood of vipers and whitewashed tombs, feel free. You've got good precedent.

The problem is that any response involving prayer at this point gets mocked (unless it's couched in friendly terms like "candlelight vigil"). This is nothing but a meme. Prayer responses weren't mocked five years ago.

Targeting prayers and well-wishers does indirectly catch up the hypocrites in your satirical net. So, congrats, you've mocked the hypocrites. But it also indirectly catches up me and the other five billion religious people who use prayer as part of our responses to tragedy and atrocity.
