The concept of plot holes has completely killed the discussion of stories online. Themes are hard you need to interpret the work and come to conclusions that you then back up with evidence, and after all that work another interpretation of the same events is still just as valid as your own. Plot holes are easy you just go through the story piece by piece looking for some tiny insignificant detail that might not make sense and then you hammer it over and over again as being an objective flaw with the story, then anyone who doesn't agree with you is ignoring your 'facts'. They allow you to act like you are discussing the story without actually needing to put any effort into it or accept that fact that your opinion is not the only one that matters.
