It most definitely works both ways, as I've learned during my time being involved in cycling advocacy and the cycling sporting fraternity. The statement

I'm not legally obligated to use hand signals...

is a fairly accurate representation of your mindset. Whether or not you cut anyone off or there was anyone coming up the street is irrelevant, you still performed those actions and there was potential for them to be seen by others. I'm surprised the Officer in attendance didn't make a point of mentioning it.

But then, this isn't the point of your post is it? In between the clickbait-y title and the link going straight to your YT channel, there's a different agenda involved here...
