2016 is halfway over so here are my top 5 of 2016 so far with a bit of review for each, please no hate it's all my opinion. 5.) Love Me - The 1975 It may not be the most indie song and may not come from a hugely regarded band in this sub but this song is really great in my opinion. It's got some cool synth and guitar riffs and very good lyrics. 4.) Tiny Cities - Flume ft. Beck As a huge Beck fan this feature had me hyped before I even heard it and it really lived up to my hype. It's possibly the most emotional track on the album, it has a truly great and very "Flume" instrumental, and Beck kills it with his lyricism and vocals in general. 3.) Identikit - Radiohead This album is stellar all the way through but I really loved this song. While it was tough to pick which song from this album I should put on this list I ultimately decided on this one simply because it was one of my top tracks on this album. 2.) Threat of Joy - The Strokes I love The Strokes. I really love The Strokes. I especially loved this new EP and even more so this song. I could easily see this being on Is This It, yet it still feels like fresh music. I love where this EP went and I was thoroughly impressed with every track on it, but Threat of Joy just stood out so much to me. 1.) I Need A Forest Fire - James Blake ft. Bon Iver This song grew on me, but once it did it became my easy choice for favorite song of 2016 so far. The brooding instrumental, that smooth bass, the vocal samples and the vocals themselves all flawlessly work together to make this song so great. The vocals especially stand out because this is a very vocally driven track. Both singers harmonize well and take their own individual verses which all flow effortlessly over Blakes' instrumental. This track is beautiful, not much else to say. Thanks for reading! Let me know your thoughts
