As a Chinese student in U of T I just want to clarify that, the main reason for our dissatisfaction is the fact that when she tried to get us to vote, she lied to us about her political stance speaking Chinese to us and saying we should support her as a fellow Chinese student. The protest only occurred when her instagram was reviewed to contain multiple posts that clearly went against what she had told us to be, because we feel cheated on and betrayed by her false claims. I respect what she believes in, but as a person who was raised in China we have our beliefs too and we shouldn’t be seen as automatically “evil” or “oppressive” just for speaking out what we believe in like she did.
I don’t think a person who lies to students to get her votes is qualified to be the president.
