I agree with you... But imo her reaction was over the top in this situation.

I think there's a certain balance between censoring one's self for the sake of other's feelings, and not letting your emotions control your reaction to what people say. People need to be more conscientious of both how their words will influence others, and how their behavior is being influenced by their emotions.

On a related note, this is actually how the world is being controlled. People are allowing their behavior to be influenced by rhetoricians, like many modern politicians, advertisement, etc. Nobody is thinking consciously, they're just reacting to their environment like any other wild animal.
