I however suspect you have a 401k, because you appear well read.
so i think that you cannot say you avoid the stock market.
Or your pay SS each pay check, therefore you cannot say you avoid the stock market.
Or you have a pension plan, therefore you cannot say you avoid the stock market.
Or you have an IRA so therefore you cannot say you avoid the stock market.
Or you work for a publicly traded company, therefore you cannot say you avoid the stock market.
or you buy goods produced in one of the factories of a publicly traded company therefore you cannot say you avoid the stock market.
I suspect you are heavily invested in the stock market if you are alive.
So while i understand your point, "some things should be left to professionals" if you have any savings that is sitting in cash, i suggest you find a fiduciary financial adviser, and talk to them about investing.
because the way i see people who choose not to invest in the stock market. People are given a hammer, yet they use rocks to pound in a nail. if you want to retire, you will not be able to live a high quality of life on SS and cash savings. the only way to achieve returns high enough for a good retirement is the stock market.
