TIFU by trying to gay up my new apartment and triggering a SWAT response.

Is it okay if I ask a couple questions inspired by your tifu? There are some things I've always been curious about but never been comfortable asking in person.

I apologize if I accidentally offend or come off as judgemental, as I am certainly not.

What makes somebody want to "gay up" their apartment? You mention how using mannequins as coat racks is "queer" but to me it just sounds like a neat idea. If you want to have mannequins in your place, that's cool, but are you doing it for yourself or because it's "queer"?

I've never decided to decorate my home or choose my clothes in order to advertise my personality, I just assume that that will happen organically.

I understand being proud of who you are, and not being ashamed of being different, I guess I just don't understand the need to advertise it. Is that a component of "queer" culture?

Maybe I just don't understand it because I'm a cisgender hetero stereotype, and that's fine. I just thought I'd ask.

Thanks.
