Tifu by wearing my wedding ring in the ocean... 21 hours after getting married.

Yeah this is my experience. I usually wear like... something... on my finger and occasionally it looks like a wedding ring but mostly it doesn't. My original one is long gone, it was damaged and I lost it when we moved some years ago.

Today, it is a wide platinum and diamond Beverly K filigree band I found for $200 a few years ago (it retails for $5K so I was into it). Tomorrow, it may be a titanium and meteorite band with moissanite. Day after, it might be an antique 3.5 carat Old European Cut diamond. None of them are my "official wedding ring" and mostly aren't sentimental (and that I acquired via work, and might sell if I feel like it).

My husband has a couple of bands- his original white gold one is somewhere in the house but it's never worn. If he does bother, it's a sterling look alike. For us it's 20 years and counting.

The only people I know who bother with traditional rings are my in-laws. Everyone else, not so much.
