Tiktok stereotypes

I'm literally just getting off TikTok after arguing with people about how functioning labels and the term Asperger's are still VERY much important.

Whether people like it or not, we need functioning labels in order to determine how much support, and what kind of support an individual needs based on where they are on the spectrum.

It's not about anybody's delicate feelings, and quite frankly, it's not about high functioning people, it's about the people, who need 24/7 care and support for the rest of their lives. The ones that will most likely never work, never be independent, and will need a legal guardian making their decisions for them for the rest of their lives.

It frustrates me to no end, bc the high functioning people on TikTok are so self absorbed that they cannot relate or walk in the shoes of those low functioning people that they can't see why these terms are important.

It can also be harmful for the high functioning side as well, bc having autism be one diagnosis with no real differentiating terms between functioning levels, people who are high functioning/aspergers (especially women) will struggle even harder to be diagnosed bc we are lumped in with people with totally different traits and needs.
