TIL 15% of American divorces are caused in part by "men paying more attention to their video games than their spouse", as of 2011.

Start going enough and it eventually gets cheaper.

I went to college later in life, and there was a bar a few blocks from my house I'd stop at on my way home from class 3/4/5/6 times a week.

Usually drink 2-3 pitchers ($8-$10 apiece) and go home,

Sometimes I'd just want a single beer, they'd just give me a pitcher anyway. When they'd ask if I was ready for another pitcher, and I'd say no, they'd pour me another pitcher anyway. Next thin you know, you've been at the bar all day/night and only spent like $15. A lot of free shots too.

That was a couple of years ago; now that I have moved away for a career, I only go out for happy hour on Fridays. After trying a bunch of different places near my new apartment, found a place that stuck. Started off getting 2-3 22oz beers and going home when happy hour was over. Then I'd stay for 3-4, but they'd give me happy hour prices even after happy hour stopped. Then it was 4 or 5, with happy hour prices and a comped beer. Then it was 6 or 7 with 2 or 3 comped beers. My bills that should have been $60-$70 with dinner were ringing out to ~$25. It was that way for a year until the manager and bartender transferred to open up the new location... went back the next Friday with new staff and bill was $60 - haven't gone back since.
