TIL In 2016, an ultra-rich individual named David Tepper moved from New Jersey to Florida and put the entire state budget of New Jersey at risk due to no longer paying taxes.

Well let's look at last year. Bezos likely paid some taxes on his personal salary, depending on his deductions, but the reason he didn't pay anywhere close to the taxes that, say, Warren Buffet paid, is because he didn't realize any income beyond his $80k salary. His wealth is tied into his stock and he pays taxes on it when he sells it. And when he does sell it, he'll owe millions and millions in capital gains. Until then, he's essentially doing what the government wants him to do, what they've incentivized him to do, which is to put the money back into the business and not take it out for himself. So saying 'Bezos doesn't pay any taxes' is very misleading. But by and large, the rich people are the ones paying most of the taxes. Bezos is just kind of an outlier for really, really investing all his profits back into his business.

As for the rest, I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. You have your moral code, and mine is just different. How much money someone makes does not factor into my moral judgement of them. But I appreciated the discussion.
