Phil is worse because he isn't a licensed doctor to help anyone with their problems. Really, Dr. Phil should not exist because what he is doing is practicing healthcare without the training or healthcare knowledge.

He is called a doctor for his doctorate in psychology, but practicing therapy and medical psychology is an entirely different thing from theory of how the brain functions. Both in practice and legally.

In Dr. Phil's state of California, you need a social worker's license (which requires a masters in social work) to help anyone and you need licensing for every specific case. That takes ~7 years and the toughest exam in the entire United States along with heavy background checks by the FBI and DOJ.

Do you know how many years it takes for you to be able to run your own practice? You are looking at almost a decade and 3,000 hours of supervised work under a licensed medical professional.

You also need licensing if you want anything dealing with kids, family problems, or drug abuse in California.

Dr. Phil done none of that, and people who watch him will take his crappy nonmedical advice as gospel and make actual mental healthcare harder with his bullshit.

Dr. Phil is a fraudulent unlicensed doctor who lacks the skill and knowledge of what he is dealing with who broadcasts his "help" to make money and actively going against sound medical advice that the state of California demands he have.

To compare that to the damage a guy who pays bums to fight isnt looking at the bigger picture.
