TIL During the University of Texas shooting, pregnant student Claire Wilson was shot, and her fiance killed. While Wilson lay crying out for help directly in the sniper's view, student Rita Starpattern ran to her and played dead for 90 minutes, talking to Wilson to keep her awake until help arrived.

It's funny how you didn't address any of the current differences I brought up and instead pretended that the historical reasons for the differences were the modern ones. US is vastly different in almost every way than the UK. We don't even have the same national language, 1/5 of Americans don't speak English. US culture has hardly changed other than our acceptance of global hegemony. Also, the US population has grown by 100 million in that 40 years. The availability of guns is lower because we have passed several federal gun control regulations since then. That is forgetting to mention locations with virtual gun bans like Chicago and New York. The access for law-abiding citizens has been lowered dramatically.
